Hallucigenia. Named that because the scientists who found it thought they were hallucinating. Fourteen spikes along the back, seven pairs of tube legs, and for decades nobody could agree which way up it went.

- Spikes that stand up. Long white stiffened spines in two rows down the back, spaced the way the fossils show.
- Seven pairs of tube legs. Chunky, soft and slightly wobbly — it stands on them.
- Orange-red body, white spines, with red tentacle-like filaments at the tail end.

Questions people actually ask
Are the spikes sharp?
No. They're stuffed fabric cones — firm enough to stand upright, soft enough to squash flat and spring back.
Does it stand on its own?
Yes, on the fourteen legs. It's a bit wobbly, which is appropriate.
Was it really reconstructed upside down?
Yes. The first reconstruction had it walking on the spikes with the tentacles waving above. It took new fossils and a lot of arguing to flip it over. This plush is the modern, right-way-up version.
Who is this for?
Anyone who has ever fallen down a Burgess Shale rabbit hole at two in the morning. They exist, and there are more of them than you'd think.
